How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, hot water facility could be free at lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.

Nun expedition is suitable for people with basic mountaineering skills at a very good fitness level, wanting a high-altitude mountaineering adventure in the Western Himalayas of Ladakh, India.

Nun is the highest peak in between Zanskar and Kargil regions of Ladakh in the Indian Himalayas. The approach to Nun Base Camp is appealingly short and easily accessible by road.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Leh (3,500 m)

You will arrive in Leh, meet your guides and fellow climbers and spend the day resting to recover from the journey and the sudden altitude.

Day 02 :

Acclimatization in Leh

You will take a short walk around Leh, visit a nearby monastery or market, and allow your body to adjust to the thinner air. In the evening, your guide will brief you about the expedition and check your equipment.

Day 03 :

Drive from Leh to Kargil (2,676 m)

Today you will enjoy a beautiful drive through mountain passes and valleys as you make your way to Kargil, where you will spend the night.

Day 04 :

Drive from Kargil to Tangol (3,700 m)

You will drive to Tangol village, the starting point of the climb. On arrival, you will take part in a traditional puja ceremony to seek blessings for the expedition.

Day 05 :

Rest and Preparation at Tangol

You will spend the day preparing loads, checking gear and taking short acclimatization walks around Tangol.

Day 06 :

Trek to Base Camp (4,600 m)

You will trek from Tangol to Base Camp, passing through meadows and rocky terrain. At Base Camp, you will set up tents and settle in.

Day 07 :

Rest and Training at Base Camp

You will rest at Base Camp and take part in training sessions on climbing techniques, rope skills and glacier safety.

Day 08 :

Load Ferry to Camp 1 (5,400 m) and Return

You will carry equipment and supplies to Camp 1 and then return to Base Camp for the night. This helps your body acclimatize better.

Day 09 :

Rest Day at Base Camp

You will spend the day resting, hydrating, and preparing for the climb to higher camps

Day 10 :

Move to Camp 1 (5,400 m)

You will climb to Camp 1 and spend the night there, adjusting to the higher altitude.

Day 11 :

Rotation to Camp 2 (5,600 m) and Return to Camp 1

You will carry loads to Camp 2 and then descend back to Camp 1 to sleep, following the climb-high, sleep-low method of acclimatization.

Day 12 :

Move to Camp 2 (5,600 m)

You will climb back to Camp 2 and spend the night at this higher camp.

Day 13 :

Climb to Camp 3 (6,400 m)

You will climb steep snow and ice slopes to reach Camp 3, the final camp before the summit.

Day 14 :

Rest and Acclimatization at Camp 3

You will take a rest day at Camp 3, checking your summit gear and preparing for the final climb.

Day 15 :

Summit Day (7,135 m) and Return to Camp 3

Starting before dawn, you will make the summit push, climbing steep slopes and ridges to reach the top of Mt. Nun at 7,135 m. After enjoying the panoramic Himalayan views, you will descend safely to Camp 3.

Day 16 :

Descend to Camp 1 or Base Camp

You will pack up and descend from Camp 3 to either Camp 1 or Base Camp, depending on the team’s progress.

Day 17 :

Return to Base Camp

The whole team will regroup at Base Camp, celebrate the climb, and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Day 18 :

Trek Back to Tangol and Drive to Kargil

You will trek back down to Tangol village and then drive to Kargil for the night.

Day 19 :

Drive Back to Leh

You will drive from Kargil to Leh and check into a hotel, enjoying the comforts of the town after the expedition.
